Floral Culottes

quite quaint topshop tshirt
quite quaint love label floral shorts
quite quaint woven belt

T-shirt & Rings: Topshop  |  Belt: Thailand  |  Shorts: Love Label  |  Nail Varnish: Rimmel, Grey Matter

I had no idea how short these shorts looked until I saw these photos! I think they feel longer because I know that they're shorts, well culottes to be precise but I hate that word, it reminds me of school uniform. I'm definitely not going to be wearing them again without opaque tights! Not that it's likely to be hot enough again this summer to wear them with bare legs anyway.

It seems a little odd to be posting an outfit like this when my last post was full of cosy winter clothes. I actually took these photos a few weeks ago because I knew I was going to be insanely busy this week. I've been working 11 hour shifts which is slowly making me go crazy, I expect all the free coffee has something to do with it too though. It also means I've had no time to reply to my comments or check out your blogs which makes me feel bad, but when I get a break I'll have a big catch up!

What i Want: Autumn/Winter '10

1. Brown Lace Up Boot, Office £65. 2. Tweed Shorts, Topshop £38. | 3. Autumn Lipstick in Plum Rebel, No7 £9.75. | 4. Faux Fur Coat, Topshop £98. | 5. Leopard Fur Collar Coat, Topshop £85. | 6. Double Finger Bird Ring, Urban Outfitters £8. | 7. Tapestry Frame Bag, Topshop £40. | 8. Suede Lace Up Wedge, ASOS £60. | 9. Leopard Print Scarf, Republic £8.99. |10. Tooled X-Body Bag, Urban Outfitters £32. |11. Knitted Fairisle Cardigan, Topshop £55. |12. Animal Print Dress, Warehouse £45. |13. Peter Pan Smock, Miss Selfridge £45. |14. Burgundy Tights, Topshop £17. |15. Cloche Felt Hat, ASOS £18. |16. Butter Nail Lacquer, Boots £10. |17. Brown Leath Ankle Boots, River Island £74.99.

Before I made this list I imagined it to be full of colour, deep burgundy, rusty orange, chocolate brown, and deep green, instead it seems to be mainly black and cream! Oh well, I'm sure my autumn wardrobe will be more colourful in reality. There's so many lovely clothes available at the moment that all look so cosy, but there's something slightly wrong about buying winter clothes in August, despite how rubbish the weather is! Although I'm starting to feel like I should be buying these things now, because that lovely chunky knit cardigan has already sold out! There is one issue with doing this though, I'm so fickle! If I bought a winter coat now, I'd probably hate it or have seen one I like even more by the time winter arrives!

Anyway, one thing I do know is that I want my wardrobe to be full of peter pan collars, I love them. Another thing I'll be wearing a lot of is leopard print, hopefully with a 60's bouffant and plenty of flicky eyeliner! I'll probably exclusively be carrying satchels, or boxy shaped bags, I love the tapestry one above. Loafers and lace up ankle boots will be the only footwear I choose, teamed with chunky wool socks and opaque tights. I also want a collection of black felt hats! No matter the shape, bowler, cloche, trilby or pork pie I want plenty of hats. There will always be room for tweed as well, shorts, tapered trousers and oversized blazers complete with elbow patches! I'd love a deep wine colour on my nails or lips too. What will you be wearing this autumn?

Grandma Style

Navy Cardi: Topshop  |  Nude Cardi: Zara  |  Shirt: H&M  |  Both Skirts: Urban Outfitters  |  Necklace: Vintage  |  Both Shoes: Vintage  |  Socks: Topshop

I never actually wore these outfits anywhere other than my garden, I think they're styled a little too much on the granny side for me. Still, I had fun playing dress up for a while!

Monochrome Playsuit

Playsuit & Ring: Topshop  |  Boots: Kurt Geiger  |  Nail Varnish: Rimmel Grey Matter

So those of you who have visited my blog before might have noticed that I've had a bit of a revamp. I wanted to improve things a bit so got a tripod and had a go at a few outdoor shots. I'm definitely not model material and all that posing lark didn't come naturally! I ended up holding on to the tree in all the shots because I had no idea where to put my hands! I've taken shots of about 5 outfits and will probably post them all, but after that I'm not sure what I'll do, I don't fancy going back to my dodgy bedroom wall shots. I'm not sure if it come across but I've attempted to give them a bit of a vintage tint, I can't decide if it works or if they just look a bit dull hah.

I've also gone against everything I ever said and jumped on the Twitter band wagon! While I was at it, I also created a Facebook page, and an account on WeardrobeLookbook and Formspring! Yeah, I really went to town on the whole networking thing! Oh and I nearly forgot, I've changed my RSS feed so I can keep track of you all ;)

Silk Tailored Shorts

Cardi: Topshop  | Shirt: H&M  Shorts: Topshop   Shoes: Office

Just a quick post tonight, I just got home from work and I'm looking forward to putting my feet up, eating a massive bag of crisps and watching some absolute trash on tv. I love this shirt, I can't get enough of buttoned up blouses at the moment, especially sheer ones, although I didn't leave the house without a top underneath, my boyfriend would've had a fit, not that I wear what he tells me! I think I'd feel very self concious of people staring. I know this sounds ridiculous seeing as I'm posting these pictures for the world to see, but it feels different, I can't see the world staring back!

I'm very excited, I've been working on lots of new things for my blog to improve it, so in the next few days it will have a whole new look, hopefully for the better!

Floral Tea Dress

Dress: H&M   Socks: Topshop   Brogues: Office

Hah, look at me attempting my first 'look down, hand in hair pose' I've become a clich├ęd blogger, I'll be doing a post on Alexa Chung and cupcakes next! Don't hate me, I love Alexa Chung and cupcakes, but you know what I mean.

I feel like a cross between a granny and child in this outfit, but I see that as a good thing! Some of you may recognise this dress because I also have the stripy version! It's so comfortable and easy to just chuck on without any thought so I got it in 2 colours! Hah oh well, it was only £14.99. I went into town today to do a bit of shopping, so this dress was perfect, I hate having to fuss around with belts and tucking things in and buttons when I'm in and out of changing rooms.

Today was bloody brilliant on the shopping front because I finally found what I've been after for weeks; a cream, sheer, long sleeved blouse. It gets better, I got it half price because there's a huge whole by the cuff  but it doesn't matter because I can easily stitch it back to the seem. The shop assistant thought I was mad, in fact she actually said I would be an idiot to buy it, then I bought it. Obviously she's not familiar with the concept of sewing.

Red Check & Lace

Shirt: Topshop   Crop Top: H&M   Necklace: Accessorize  |  Skirt H&M  |  Shoes: Office

This is quite a wintery outfit, well it is to me anyway because it's also quite an old outfit that I wore a lot last winter. Yes I'm one of those people who wears an outfit the same way more than once, I only recently found out that this is apparently like committing fashion suicide according to 2 different magazines and various blogs. I don't care though, if you find a combination that you like and feel good in then I think you'd be an idiot not to wear it again, just in case someone noticed. 'Oh no she's not wearing that gorgeous dress with those lovely heels and nice cardi again is she.' Exactly. Shut up. Anyway, the reason I've gone all wintery on you is because it's been a miserable few days here and I'm also trying to get a bit more wear out of all my forgotten clothes.

Rimmel Nail Varnish in Grey Matter

I don't care how bland it may sound, but I love grey nails. It may be summer, but I've got a little bored of pastels. My boyfriend hated it, and enjoyed reminding me of that at every available moment (which was a lot) but I think that only made me like it more. So now I'm not sure if the love is genuine or its just developed because of the joy I get out of annoying my boyfriend. What do you think? Is it hideous? Will you telling me it's hideous make me like it even more?

A date with a clothes horse

On Monday night I met up with the lovely Rebecca of The Clothes Horse, and her sister. It was my first blogger meet up and I was actually a bit nervous. I'm so embarrassingly awkward in person, but we actually both had a laugh about being like that. It was quite surreal to meet her, I'm so new to blogging and her's is one of the first I found and fell in love with, she lives in America so I never thought for a second that I would be able to get her insight on the whole blogging thing. We had a lovely evening sipping cider and cocktails, sitting on the wall by Cambridge quayside, dangling our legs over the river below. I'm definitely looking forward to my next blogger meet up, I wonder who it will be with next time...

It was getting dark when we met, so we didn't really get a chance to take any decent pictures, but here is one of us taken by Rebecca's sister. I felt like a giraffe in my heels, I didn't notice at the time, but Rebecca is standing on her tip toes, I love that!

Denim Shirt: Topshop   T-shirt: H&M   Playsuit: Primark  Bag: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Topshop

I know I've done a post on this playsuit quite recently but I've totally changed my mind since then and I actually feel really comfortable in it now, maybe it was all your lovely comments that helped!

Parcels

(1) Grey peg leg jeans, Topshop £45 £20 ¦ Linen tapered trousers, Topshop £38 £18 ¦ (3) Roll sleeve burnout tee, Topshop £15 ¦ (4) Deer Ring, Topshop £12.50 ¦ (5) Pebble tassle clogs, Topshop £72 £40

I love waiting for parcels to arrive, knowing that a bundle of loveliness is on it's way is always a little bit exciting. Then again, I also hate waiting for parcels to arrive, knowing I've paid for something lovely that I won't have in my hands for another 3 days infuriates me!

When I saw that more items had been added to the Topshop sale last week I had a browse online. I was doing only that though; browsing, more to pass the time and to see what things I recently paid far too much for had been slashed in price (as it happens my new tan clogs went down to £25! damn sales). I didn't expect to actually buy anything because I rarely do order things online for several reasons; I can't use my student discount, I hate paying postage, and I prefer to try things on. This time though, I actually found some things I liked and I found a way to beat the system! I spent over £100 so I got free postage, not that I wanted to spend that much, but I bought the trousers in 2 different sizes so I wasn't intending to keep it all. I also found an NUS discount code on a forum so got my, or rather someone else's student discount! So that's Topshop 0 - Lizzie 1!

I don't know why, because everything about them is telling me to hate them, but I love these shoes! I can't believe they were £72! I had to have them for £40 though. Love this deer ring too - it's never coming off!

Peg Trousers

This isn't really a what-I-wore post, but more of a how-should-I-wear-it post. I've been after some tapered trousers for yongos but none I've tried fit very well. I found these in Zara last week, I've never actually bought anything from there before but I've heard it's cheap so £39.99 is more than I was expecting to pay but I can't find any cheaper ones that fit! Now that I've got them, I don't have a clue how to wear them, I just can't decide! What do you think?

Exciting things have happened while I was away - I've now got over 100 followers! Brilliant. Thank you so much for reading this rubbish, you're all gem's, and also probably a bit odd. So I've hit 100, which I'm so pleased about, but it gets better still... I've had my first anonymous hate comment! YES! In my book that's great news; someone actually thinks my blog is worth spending 5 minutes writing shit about, then filling in the letter generator thing. So I'd like to thank you anonymous 'bangs' hater, and let you know that my unclassy look is here to stay.
